The Wisdom Of Little Doug Book
Since the day he came into this world, Little Doug has had his own unique way of doing and seeing things. He has been challenging and delighting us with his unique view of life ever since. We always knew he was special, but we became even more aware of just how amazing our little guy was when two months after his 6th birthday, he was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and acute heart failure. To save his life, the doctors performed open-heart surgery and implanted a heart pump called an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device). Watching him bounce back from such a horrific life-altering event while never losing his resilience, fun-loving attitude, and exuberance for life, has been the privilege of my lifetime.
When Little Doug was very young, I started documenting the cute and funny things he would say and do--so that I could always remember them. Soon I started sharing them with friends and family. After his heart surgery, I began sharing them with other "LVADers". I have since received many, many requests to put them in a book. So this is Little Doug's Mom, sharing a glimpse of him with you. The Genki Garb VAD Short has been developed with the help of actual VAD recipients in concert with us to ensure a proper fit for everyone. This is the only VAD short that has been developed for HeartMate 2 & 3. The upper side pockets ensure a snug and secure fit for the control unit; the upper pockets are strategically placed on each side so that regardless as to what side your driveline is on, this short will accommodate your control unit., and for extra security the pockets have a velcro securing strap. The batteries fit snugly in the lower pockets and each pocket will securely keep your batteries in place with velcro straps. The short is made of durable, moisture wicking material that has the perfect amount of stretch to be worn underneath shorts, slacks, dress or skirt providing mobility and security without having to worry about carrying the batteries and a control unit in a bag. The double stitching on all of the pockets and seams will provide you with years of use. Please check the sizing chart for your actual size to ensure a proper fit.

The Genki Garb VAD Shirt has been developed with the help of actual VAD recipients in concert with us to ensure a proper fit for everyone. This is the only VAD shirt that has been developed for HeartMate 2 & 3. The control unit has been strategically placed in the center bottom half of the shirt to provide everyone with the ease of use and securing the control unit. The control unit does in fact fit those with HeartMate 2 & 3 and since it is placed in the center those with a driveline on the left or right can use this shirt with ease. The cords for the batteries and the control unit are held in place with velcro loops that secure all cords, keeping them neat and protected. The shirt is made of durable, moisture wicking material that has the perfect amount of stretch to be worn underneath another shirt, a suit jacket to keep you cool or as is without having to wear anything over it. The double stitching on all of the pockets and seams will provide you with years of use. Please check the sizing chart for your actual size to ensure a proper fit.
